SS contracted hepatitis C in her 20’s during a brief phase of experimentation with hard drugs. Like many with this disease, the successful landscaper and hotelier didn’t know she had it until 30 years later when a routine blood test showed elevated liver enzymes. By age 55 she was chronically fatigued and showing signs of bone marrow depression, and her liver function was compromised from scar tissue formation.

SS was encouraged by liver specialists to begin 6-12 months of treatment with a combination of interferon, an immune stimulator, and Ribavarin, a potent antiviral drug. Known to effect cure in a significant percentage of hepatitis C patients, the treatment was also known to cause significant side-effects in most of its recipients. SS sought my help in deciding whether to begin the treatment.

We did a thorough review of the known probability of success and the likelihood of the various toxic effects of the treatment. We then found alternative practitioners experienced in helping to reduce these effects. Utilizing acupuncture, Chinese and western herbs and nutritional therapies, she was able to successfully complete the 6 months of treatment with marked improvement in her liver status. And the toxic effects were minimized.

Fees for services are charged on an hourly basis. They include Dr. Bouch’s time spent on your case including telephone appointments with you, consultations with physicians and specialists, medical literature searches, and analysis.

A prepaid fee of between $350–400 depending on amount of review, is required, which covers the initial review of your case and the first telephone appointment.

After our first appointment, if you decide to continue to work with IMS, you will be charged hourly, based upon the time spent working on your case. The hourly fee is $350, however extensive literature searches can be performed by research assistants at a much lower rate, usually less than $100 per hour. And a sliding scale is available for those under severe financial stress.

A retainer of $500 will be requested after the first appointment to begin the additional work. As those funds are utilized, ongoing work will be invoiced monthly.
